Since this was the address where Edward Payson was living in 1880, he was evidently acting as agent for the owner at the time. I have not researched the deeds for the farm, but Susan Larkin's "Cos Cob Art Colony" says that the holders of four mortgages on the farm had foreclosed in 1877, and that they rented back for some time period.⁹
