- Mother: Eliza Loder b. c 1812, d. b 1850
- Married Name: Her married name was Mead.4
- Birth*: Clara was born in 1831, New York , (1900 census says b. 1827).1,5
- She was the daughter of Alvah Miller and Eliza Loder.3
- Research Note*: Effie McCallum is the Theodore descendant who told me that Clara had two children before she married Theodore, and she speculated that Clara may have been married to Charles E. Mead before her marriage to Theodore. I agree this is very likely. The girls are named Mead, Emily lived with Charles's parents, Reuben and Sarah (Reynolds) Mead, and Anna with Charles's aunt Eunice. Clara Holly lived with Anna in 1910, and is identified as her mother in the census. Anna signed Clara's death certificate. Anna and her husband Frank are buried in Roxbury Cemetery next to Eunice M. and Alfred Reynolds. Eunice was the sister of Reuben. I will look for further information on this.6
- (Witness) Census: Clara Miller appeared on the census of 1850 in the household of Alvah Miller at Rye, Westchester County, New York, (See record of Alvah Miller for details.).
- Marriage*: Clara married Charles E Mead, son of Reuben Mead and Sarah Reynolds, in 1851, Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, (It is very possible that Charles was the first husband of Clara, before she married Theodore.).4
- Marriage*: Clara married Theodore Holly, son of David Holly and Sarah Webb, in 1856.1

- (Witness) Census: Clara Miller appeared on the census of 28 May 1910 in the household of Franklin Nathaniel Weed at Roxbury Rd., Stamford, Fairfield County, New York, (See record of Franklin Nathaniel Weed for details.).10
- Death*: Clara died on 28 March 1912, Roxbury Rd, Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut, Bureau of Vital Statistics Death Certificate issued 13 June 1989 states her birthplace was Lewisboro, NY (So. Salem), father Alvah Miller, mother Eliza Loder. Undertaker, Brady & Chadeau, Stamford. Name of informant: Mrs. Frank Weed, Stamford, Conn.11,12
- Obituary*: Greenwich paper 29 March 1912 Obituary: Highly Respected in the Neighborhood: Mrs. Mary L. [crossed out, handwritten in Clara] Holly of Roxbury, 80 years of age, died this morning, as the result of burns received yesterday, while lighting a kitchen fire in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Weed. She is survivied by five children.
Mrs. Holly was a widow, her husband having died four years ago. Since that time she lived at the home of her daughter where her death occurred. About 11:30 a.m. yestserday, Mrs. Weed was at the parsonage of the Methodist Church, to help other women who were tidying up the house, making it ready for occupancy by the minister. Mr. Weed left the house for a few moments, to get kindling wood to start the kitchen fire. In his absence, Mrs. Holly determined to get the fire going, and thrusting some paper in the stove, put in what few pieces of wood she could find, and lighted a match. The supposition is that the fire did not burn rapidly enough to suit her, and that she kneedled on the floor to blow at the blaze. It is thought that a shawl which was thrown about her shoulders took fire in this way. When Mr. Weed ran into the house in response to her screams of pain, the burning shawl was on the floor, but she had been badly burned about the head, arms and hands. Her hair was practically burned from her head. Dr. Godfrey was summoned from Stamford, and did all the was possible for her relief.
Mrs. Holly was born in Greenwich [note: this appears to be an error], and spent her younger days there. The latter part of her life was spent in Roxbury, and she made many friends among the people of the neighborhood. Always in the best of health and spirits in spite of her age, the deceased was a regular attendant at church and took an active part in church work.
The surviving members of the family are three daughters -- Mrs. Frank Weed of Roxbur, Mrs. Chauncey Scott of Coscob, and Mrs. George Morrell of Mianus -- and two sons, Arthur of Mianus and Frank of Norwalk.6 - Burial*: Clara was buried in 1912, First Congregational Church Cemetery, Plot 85, Grave 6, 108 Sound Beach Ave., Old Greenwich, Greenwich, Fairfield, Connecticut, Stone photographed Aug 2005, HK. Plot cards says age at death 81, date of birth 1831.11,13

David Mitchell
M
- Research Note*: If they followed the naming convention, we would expect David's parents to be named George Mitchell and Elizabeth, and we would expect Margaret's parents to be named Janet and James Cumming.
- Birth: David was born in 1771, Scotland , 1841 Census states born outside Nairn County.1
- Census*: David appeared on the census of 1841 at Fornighty, Ardclach, Nairn, Scotland, as age 70, Blacksmith, head of household with David, 30 (which in 1841 was rounded down to nearest 5 years if between 15 and 65), Blacksmith, Jane 30, Janet 8, Jane 6, William 5, David 2, Mary 6 months, Margaret McGillevray, 15 F.S. (Female Servant), Isabella McGillevray, 12, F.S., all born in Nairn County except David Sr.1

- Father: David Mitchell1
- Birth*: David was born on 6 November 1805, Ardclach, Nairn, Scotland, , Register reads, "David Lawful Son to David Mitchell and Margaret Cumming in Fornighty was born the 6th and Baptized the 20th Nov'r. The witnesses were James Mitchell in Clephantown and Alexander Lesly in Remone."1
- He was the son of David Mitchell.1
- Marriage*: David married Jane McGillivray on 15 June 1832, Ardclach, Nairn, Scotland.1
- Census*: David appeared on the census of 1841 at Fornighty, Ardclach, Nairnshire, Scotland, as age 30, Blacksmith, b.Nairn (as opposed to Outside Census County), with David, age 70 (rounded?), born outside census county. All others born Nairn. Jane, age 30, Janet, 8, Jane, 6, William, 5, David, 2, Mary Bell, age 6 m. Margaret McGillevray, 15 and Isabella McGillevray, 12 listed as Female Servants.2
- Death*: David died on 1 August 1862, Urquhart Street, Forres, Moray, Scotland, at age 56, Elgin Courant notice of 8 Aug 1862, p. 8, At Urquhart St., Forres, on the 1st inst., Mr. David Mitchell, blacksmith, aged fifty-seven years." Also listed in Forres Gazette, 6 Aug, 1862, p. 3. GRO Death Register confirms occupation, wife, street, age, parents, Cause of death Chronic Bronchitis accompanied by --unreadable--, Signature of Informant, Jane Mitchell, Daughter, present. " Another residence is not listed for Jane, so presumably she resided at home.
- Burial*: David was buried, Cluny Cemetery, Forres, Moray, Scotland, Gravestone inscription reads, "Erected by Jane Mitchell in memory of her father, mother, and sisters, MARY B. MITCHELL died Forres, 12.5.1858, aged 17 years. MARGARET C. MITCHELL died Forres, 18.8.1860, aged 16 years. DAVID MITCHELL, blacksmith, died Forres, 1.8.1862, ages 56 years. JANE MITCHELL died Forres, 8.3.1868, ages 64 years. JESSIE MITCHELL, died Forres, 23.5.1872, ages 37 years." This is a typed card, photocopied by the Moray Local Heritage Council, and on the card, the 2 of 1872 in Jessie's date is handwritten. Jessie does not appear in the 1841 census, where she should if she had been born in 1835, and Jane was born in 1835. So Jessie's death year may not be correct here.

- Father: David Mitchell
- Birth*: Elizabeth was born circa 1798, Scotland , The parish records do not show an Eliza born to David and Margaret. This is pure speculation on my part, based on the names on the sampler, and other factors.
- She was the daughter of David Mitchell.
- Marriage*: Elizabeth married James McQueen, son of Janet McPhail, on 7 June 1817, Ardclach, Nairn, Scotland, OPR reads, "June 7th Then were contracted in order to marriage James Macqueen and Elizabeth Mitchell both in this parish.1
- Married Name: As of 7 June 1817,her married name was McQueen.
- Death*: Elizabeth died between 1831 and 1836?, Scotland, This is conjecture based on the appearance of Elizabeth at the birth of her son David in Elgin in 1826, and the passenger list of James, David, James aged 5, and Margaret in 1836.
