• Census: James appeared on the census of 16 April 1910 at 64 Lake Street, Ocean Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey, as age 69, married once for 46 years, house painter, working for employer, unemployed as of April, unemployed 37 weeks in 1909. Homeowner. With Sarah, age 74, married twice, 4 children all living. Not far from Ross and Ada Hibbitts.⁶
• Census: James appeared on the census of 1920 at 132 Lake Street, Ocean Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey, as age 78, owner, painter. His initial looks like "W." It looks as if Lake St. turns into Monmouth Rd. right at about this point. With Sarah J, wife, age 83, and it lists both Sarah and herfather as born in New York, mother Connecticut. A few houses further are Rosteen Hibbitts and Ada, their daughter.⁷
