• Note*: Based on 1850-1880 census records, William Layton Dangler had at least 18 children, 5 by his first wife Amelia, and 13 by his second wife Hattie Havens, daughter of Daniel & Janes Havens. The first fieve were Margaret A., Catharine, Garret, Hiram and Charles. The second thirteen were Amelia, Britton, Samuel, Jane, Emily (who married Samuel Selleck, the son of Sabrina Mead), James B., Samuel, Stansbury (who was a witness at Samuel and Emily's wedding), John, George, Louisa, Lavinia H., and Ida. Hattie (Hetty) died soon after Ida's birth. in 1881.
