- Note*: [He had children Benjamin, Joshua, Rachel, Bethia, Sarah, Isaac, and Joseph, to be entered.].
- Birth*: Benjamin was born circa 1760. Conklin Mann, in his 1933-34 articles on Richard Ambler descendants, writes "His birth date offers a problem. His g.s. in St. Matthew's Ch. Yd., Bedford, states that Benjamin Ambler died 13 Dec. 1811 in his 62d yr. The census of 1800 shows him over 45 years old. On the other hand if Stamford town and ch. recs. are correct, Joshua Ambler named 3 sons Benjamin. Town recs. show a Benjamin, son of Joshua and Bethiah b. 20 Dec. 1749, a 2d Benjamin b. 24 Sept., 1758, d. 23 Feb. 1759. First ch. recs. have 'Benjamin, Sarah, Deborah and Bethiah children of Joshua and Bethia Ambler were bap. 3 Dec., 1760.' The compiler believes that Benjamin, who survived, was b. 1759-60."2
