  • Birth*: Demas was born in 1782. This birthdate is a guess, based on his death notice saying he was the eldest, and my guess that Seeley was born about 1783.1

Benjamin Wilson

M, b. before 1756
  • Birth*: Benjamin was born before 1756.1
  • Census*: Benjamin appeared on the census of 1790 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, as 1 male age 16 and over, 1 male under 16, and 3 females. Therefore the head of household, presumably Benjamin, was born before 1774.2
  • Tax List*: Benjamin appeared on the tax list of Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, 1795, with only three entries: Horse kind 2 years old (and this entry is lighter than those around it, it is possible that it was erased), 15 Acres Clear Pasture, 15 acres Bush Pasture or Brush pasture? but it looks clearly like Bush), for a tax of 7 Pounds, 10 shillings. This is one of the lower tax listings.3
  • Census: Benjamin appeared on the census of 1800 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, as 1 male aged 16-25, 1 male 45 or older, 1 female aged 10-15, and 1 female aged 26-44. Therefore the head of household was born before 1756.1
  • Census: Benjamin appeared on the census of 1810 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, as 1 males aged 16-25, 1 male 45 or older. 1 female 10-15 years old, 1 female 45 or older.4

Nehemiah Wilson1

M, b. between 1766 and 1774, d. after 1820
Nehemiah Wilson|b. bt 1766 - 1774\nd. a 1820|p91.htm#i2709|Benjamin Wilson|b. b 1756|p91.htm#i2708||||||||||||||||
  • Birth*: Nehemiah was born between 1766 and 1774.1
  • He was the son of Benjamin Wilson.1
  • Census*: Nehemiah appeared on the census of 1790 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, as "Jun'r", with 1 male 16 and older, and 3 females. Neighbors Nathaniel Mead, Jr., Joseph Mead, Smith Mead, Henry Mead, Matthew Mead, Benjamin Wilson, Nehemiah Mead, Jr. Rev. Isaac Lewis. Nehemiah is probably about 25 here, probably married about 4 years, born say 1766.2
  • Tax List*: Nehemiah appeared on the tax list of Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, 1795, Nehemiah has a 1 under the first category "Poles from 21 to 70 years." [Perhaps fencing?] He has a 1 under Acres Plowland, and a tax of 18 Pounds. This is quite a low tax compared to many of the other listings.3
  • Census: Nehemiah appeared on the census of 1800 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, as 1 male under 10 years, 1 male 26-44, 4 females under 10, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 26-44. Therefore the head of household was born between 1756 and 1774. Neighbors, Nathaniel Mead, Jr., Nathaniel Mead 5th, Benjamin Wilson, Nehemiah Mead, Rev. Isaac Lewis, John Wilmot.4
  • Census: Nehemiah appeared on the census of 1810 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, as age 26-44, with 1 male under 10, 1 male 10-15, 1 female under 10 and 1 female 26-66. This Nehemiah still lives in the same neighbor group, with Seeley Mead, Jef Negro (probably Jeffrey Felmette), Ben. Willson, Nath'l Mead and Thos. Mead. So presumably this is the correct Nehemiah, but all 4 of the females who were under 10 in 1800 are gone. Based on this census, the head of household was born 1766 - 1784.1
  • (Witness) Property Record: Nehemiah Wilson was mentioned in a property transaction of Benjamin Wilson on 11 August 1817 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut,, see Benjamin Wilson for details.5
  • Census: Nehemiah appeared on the census of 1820 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, as age 45 or older, with a male under 10 and one male 26-44, and 2 females under 10, and 1 female 16-25. Perhaps his wife has died since 1810. This may be a married son with young children living with him. This head of household was born 1775 or before. Neighbors are Seely Mead, Thomas Mead, Wilson Merritt, Matthew Mead, Henry Santos, Jesse Felmittee, John Ellis.6
  • Death*: Nehemiah died after 1820.1
  • Census: Cannot identify Nehemiah on the census of 1830 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, There are two Nehemiah's on the 1830 census in Greenwich, but neither of them are in the neighborhood where this Nehemiah has been living, and their households are not well matched to his. One is listed as Nehemiah, Jr., 1 m 5-9, 1 m 40-49 // 1 f <5, 2 f 5-9, 1 f 10-14, 1 f 15-19, 1 f 30-40, 1 f 60-69. Head of household therefore b. 1781 - 1790.

    The other Nehemiah is listed as 1 m < 5, 1 m 20-29, 1 m. 70-79,// 2 f 20-29, 1 f 60-69, 1 f 90 - 99. This listing is consistent with a household which I can follow from 1790 forward. This appears to be the Nehemiah Wilson (b. about 1756, d. 3 Aug 1837), who married 6 Nov 1786 (Rev. Isaac Lewis, 2nd Congregational) Rachel Avery (b. 1760-61, d. 2 Dec. 1846), and had at least William, Walter A. and Anna. (Revolutionary War Pension Application W18437 CT).7
  • Census: Nehemiahdid not appear on the census of 1840 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, There were no Nehemiah Wilson's listed in Greenwich that year.8
